“Describing my six-month stay in Ghana in one: Indescribable. It was a remarkable, enlightening, and highly educational journey. While I was in Ghana for my studies, I actively participated in various initiatives organized by Solutions for Life Initiative Ghana. My initial two weeks in the bustling capital, Accra, particularly Accra Central, provided me with a ‘culture shock’ moment, witnessing the vibrant marketplace and densely populated streets. Later, I relocated to Kumasi and was warmly hosted by Sally, Nana, and their children, who introduced me to the Ghanaian way of life. In Kumasi, I engaged in several activities organized by Solutions For Life Initiative Ghana, including the organization of a Christmas party for local orphans. We set up a moon bouncer and a trampoline, arranged food, and music, and even had a makeup artist, while also educating the children about hygiene. The joy on their faces is a memory I will forever cherish. As a foreigner at the party, I had many interactions with the boys who were passionate about soccer. The boys dream of playing at an international level and meeting their idols. Thanks to my hosts, I had the opportunity to connect with locals and fellow travelers, allowing me to explore areas outside Kumasi. Ghanaians are incredibly friendly and sociable, making it easy to build connections. Ghana’s diverse landscapes range from savannas in the north to coastal regions in the south. Kumasi boasts the largest market in West Africa. However, Ghana faces challenges such as socioeconomic disparities, environmental issues, and healthcare improvements, especially in a rapidly growing population. Solutions For Life Initiative Ghana is actively working on projects to address these challenges. Being a part of this team allows you to witness the positive impact you can make in many people’s lives. This journey was an extraordinary personal growth experience, and the lessons I learned in Ghana have significantly influenced my development. Working abroad also meant contributing to the development of others alongside my own progress. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
